Happy Birthday Dad

As I was thinking about you today,
I began to wonder whether you realize
how much you are a part of me,
You might not know how deeply
your values and your actions
have influenced my character
or be aware of how many ways
your words still speak to my heart…

But Dad, as surely as the sun
causes the budding flower to blossom,
you have shaped and influenced my life.
Your very presence has made me
WHO I AM TODAY…
a daughter who loves you very much..

HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!

Happy Belated Birthday My Friend

Vote: Vote Up0 Vote Down0

To Andy, I call him a friend,
but some friend I seem to be,
when I let his birthday pass by,
without saying Happy Birthday.
Therefore, I must apologise
for my oversight my friend.
Although this is nine days late,
May I take this time to say
I hope you had a wonderful Birthday.
I have no excuses for overlooking
a friend from my Birthday poem list.
As I read Andy’s poems almost daily,
I feel guilty that I overlooked his Birthday.
Andy is our resident Romantic poet,
whose poems of love and passion
fills quite a few with joy,
and whose friendship I value.
He writes from the heart
of loves entanglement there,
sometimes mirroring at times his own life.
A great poet and a great friend to all.
Therefore, from this friend who sadly forgot
a Happy Belated Birthday my friend, nine days late.

T’was the Night

T’was the night before my 13th birthday
Hoping for a guitar I dearly pray
I wished for a fun day before I go to sleep
I hoped I wouldn’t get anything really cheap

I thought about the next day before I went to bed
After that was done, I threw my covers overhead
I didn’t sleep because of what I thought I’d get
A game, a stereo, maybe even a pet!

I awoke in the morning at the crack of dawn
Then I found my dreams of the past were gone
For near the door, on its glorious stand
Was a guitar, it’s wood shiny and grand

My brother ran in ‘did you see what you got?’
I did. ‘is it that guitar you bought?’
He stared at me with a humongous sigh.
Jeez Nate! You know it’s a sin to spy!

After I got dressed I went to go eat
Come on son, lets go to IHOP, my treat!
We got in the care to drive the way there
My pancakes were good, but my mom’s had hair

And when we got home, we all had a blast
It seems that the morning just went way too fast
In what felt like a minutes was time for lunch
What my presents were? I had but a hunch

I went in my room and play with my guitar
I started jamming like a big rock star
I hoped it would pass time so presents would come
It did not work, and my hands got all numb

For dinner we had hamburgers and hot dogs
It turned out Stephen and Bob are food hogs!
For dessert we had white cake and chocolate ice cream
It was so good; to me it felt like a dream

Now finally it was my present time!
I felt so special, I thought I was prime
I hear a bark and see a cage all alone
I heard a cute little puppy, now my very own

Sweet 16

Every girl dreams of this day
Remember when you were little and used to play.
But now you say what’s the use it’s just another birthday

You always want to turn 16 to drive and get to be free.
That’s why you have friends here to let you know.
And one of them is me.

You always seem to think nobody loves you
But I’m here to tell you that was never true.
I’m here to help you in anyway I can
Even if it’s over a man.

They always say turning 16 can be great
You can even have a big tall cake
And you get more presents for gods sake
Then you go to blow out the candles.
you think of what wish you should make.
Maybe celebrate your birthday like an overcrowded lake.

Your finally going to be 16
THE First to actually be a teen
You may not have a record that is clean
But you are sweet as in the name and sure not mean.
Of all the things you’ve been through and seen

To You - On Your Birthday

May your very special day
Overflow with love and peace,
Thank God for his grace and mercy
His wonders to me never cease.
Each life you’ve been blessed to touch
Reminds us to persevere,
Your commitment and obedience to God
Opens hearts and minds, it’s clear.
Unwavering strength you possess
A devoted servant in all that you do,
Reverence the One from whom you’re made
Ever faithful, ever loving, ever true.
Let’s celebrate and enjoy this moment
Or reminisce about years ago,
Vow we have to cherish you
Even more than you’ll ever know.
Dear Mother, Happy Birthday!

Birthday Time

Vote: Vote Up0 Vote Down0

To reflect on New Year’s Day
And To reflect in a similar
Manner on one’s birthday…

New Year’s and Birthday Time are both
A good time to
Reconsider one’s life’s path
On one’s birthday, like on New Year’s,
One is reminded
Of turning a year older

One must also be reminded
One has also turned a year wiser
Like New Year’s
Birthday Time can be
A time to review
And to revise and improve
One’s Present and One’s Future.

A very special one
A nice kind of day
For treats and lots of fun.
From the time you get up
Till you go Nighty night
Hope your first (Birthday)
Is a special delight.
