Mother

I watched my Mom fill out an application.
I looked at the line that asks about past professions.
I thought to myself, that space is too small
To write down what she’s been, to cover it all.
She was a nurse when I fell and scraped my knee.
She was a maid when I didn’t wipe my feet.
She was a designer when my clothes didn’t match.
She was a tailor when my pants needed a patch.
She was a teacher when I asked a question.
She was a priest when I had a confession.
She was a psychiatrist when I came home crying.
She was a preacher when I got caught lying.
She was a singer when she sung me to sleep.
She was a lifeguard when she said the water’s too deep.
There are many more, yet the best one to me,
She was a best friend and mine forever she’ll be.

Poem About Grandma

Grandma,
A baby cradled in your arms…
Teaching me your gentle charms.
Growing up with you by my side…
Learning from you never to lie.
To understand and not judge too…
Love and kindness I also learned from you.
Through the years you watched me grow…
Teaching me everything I’d need to know.
Listening to every word I’ve said…
And every word I’ve wrote you’ve read.
You’ve been there for me to the end…
Until the day for you, God did send.
Now you watch me from up above…
Shining down on me your heavenly love.
I will miss you with all my heart…
Thank you for being there from the start.

My Grandma

The way it smells when she cooks.
When you’re bad, the way she looks.
How she would do anything to help a friend.
The way she’ll stick by you until the end.
She’s one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.
Unless you get on her bad side, then you’re in for a treat.
The way she’ll cheer you up when you’re down.
And how she helps you to turn your frown.
The way she jokes and laughs with me,
Her soul so kind, so sweet, so free.
She inspires me in different ways everyday.
My grandma is wonderful in every way.

True

Just meeting a couple of times with those dark brown eyes.
I never knew that you would be the one on my mind.

For the short times of different visits,
I never thought that I’d miss it.

Through all of the hugs and kisses,
we finally parted with the best intentions of God’s wishes.

Gifted is he, the king of his own destiny.
Leading the blind to the land of the free.

You are the one in the million man march that reached out and touched my heart.
You put your world aside to listen to all of my cries.

You eased the pain like a baby’s lullaby.
I tip my hat to you.

for all that you do.
For being a man of his word by using the word TRUE.

Try and Try

I have always seen life for what it really is.
Ever since I was a child growing up, hard times are all I know.

I had to sit back and watch my mother work from sunset to sundown.
I had to sit back and watch my mother work herself to her grave.

Nothing ever came easy for her.
She always had a heart and kept a smile on her face.

Life is like a newborn baby struggling to come out of its mother’s womb,
life is a struggle true enough, but after all the struggling you have done,

and after all the hell you have been through, there is success.
Life is nothing but a big struggle, but just keep the faith and focus on your goals.

Don’t let life beat you or you will be walking around like zombies.
Keep on pushing, keep on trying, life can be whatever you make it to be.

But life can also be a bowl of cherries with whip cream and apple pie.
I say this again; life is what you make of it.

You can achieve or conquer anything it throws at you,
you can’t quit or give up, you have got to keep on working,
look higher some way, some how you are going to make it.

Sugar In The Sea

And they too were lifted up
As the promise always said

And the labels that belonged
Are laid to rest and gone

And what happened in the glistening
Was the gentle sweet relief

Now brilliant tiny stars
On the gentle midnight reef

And thoughts and remembrances
Like fire all a glow

Now imprints for our hearts to hold
Of them that had to go

No solitude or singleness
No searching for the calm

No tears and labors emptiness
No hatred to disarm

Desire and all restlessness
Now sugar in the sea

And so, my friend, we wait behind
Till we can be so free

Grandma’s Touch Of Life

Vote: Vote Up1 Vote Down0

I hear people speak her name and sometimes when I hear it I feel quite ashamed
Not of you but of me because I can’t remember her happily
I never knew her and people don’t say what kind of things she did each day
People don’t talk to me about such
I think maybe it hurts too much
It hurts me more than most people know
And this is my way of trying to show
Show just how much I need to see
Just exactly how she would have acted towards me
So to everyone who reads this I just want to say
Please tell about my grandma someday
And I just want to tell you what I’ve been missing out on everyday
I bet she’s very sorry for not being here to watch me grow
But I’m the one who is sorry because she’s not here to know
I can’t talk to her, although I’ve got plenty to say
I can’t walk to her because she lives too far away
We can’t share secrets or teach me how to make a rug
She can’t hold me tight when I am in need of a hug
She can’t wipe away the tears that often fill my eyes
I wouldn’t even know her without a disguise
She can’t take the time because she’s got none left
She can’t yell at me when I wine because she can’t take a breath
She can’t hear me sing my little tune of sorrow
She can’t give me hope for a brighter tomorrow
But some how if I knew just who she was
Maybe I could feel the type of my grandmother’s love
Some how I feel you probably knew her well
So sometime can you share what of her you have of her too tell?
Some of us grandkids wonder but never dare to say
Because it might bring back memories of her that still hurt to this day
I just wish I had thoughts that even hurt so much
I just wanna try to feel the feel of her loving touch
So when your not busy or in a mad rush
And you think about your mother, please also think of us.

One Of A Kind

The funny beautiful lady
That means so much to me
May be gone from the land of the living
But with me she will always be
Because my memory holds her dearly
And my pen recalls her ways
And most of all I love her
A love that always stays
It stays inside my memory
And is often on my mind
Because a lady like my grandma
Is rare and hard to find.

The Person I Long To Be

Vote: Vote Up0 Vote Down0

The day light breaks again
Another day has begun.

But still no sleep has come.
My body is weary

My mind overworked.
I lie awake thinking

But what I am unsure.
I need to break free from the cycle I endure.

Everyday is the same and the nights are undistinguished.
I feel as though I am being pushed along with the tide

Unable to break free from the everyday flow.
This is not me I need to change, before time takes over

And I am unable to change.
I need to be freed from the grasp of ordinary

And become that person I have always longed for.
Express myself in every way, and conquer the dreams as I lie awake.

Then I may fall asleep and put my mind to rest.
Make changes in my life and help those in need.

I would like to touch everyone’s life in a positive way
And leave my mark on society before I fade away.

Life

Life is an ebb and flow of constant changes.
Starting from the existence of a tiny seed
Blooming with hopeful life,
To the springing forth of a being so full of
future promise.
Who continually changes throughout the ever flowing paths of life’s ups and downs!
Changing constantly in form and status
While experiencing awakenings, frustrations, sadnesses, and a gamut of feelings,
Related to disappointments, untimely occurrences, unwanted occurrences, and exciting
occurrences,
Often rarely prepared for the changes to come.
Dealing with the making of new adjustments,
While letting go of the familiarity and comfort of the past.
Knowing that what was so secure yesterday was just a fleeting moment in time.
As we go through life continuing to make adjustments related to life’s happenings,
Seeking to find that inner peace and happiness,
trying to adjust to each step of life’s
never ending changes!
